I first met Sunny for his large scaled mesmerizing petri dish paintings while studying at UC Santa Barbara. I recall going to Open Studios where it was an evening when Grad students from the Art department opened up their studios to friends and strangers to see what they're up to. When I first walked into his studio, my initial thought was -what are all these wonderful mixes of colors everywhere?!
Fast forward, I took his graduation photos, enrolled as a student for his course, became swooned by his fiance NhuChi (not because she brought Portos to class one day), and eventually became his intern in his studio!
It humbled me so much when the duo reached out to me to literally hang out and document them in their element in the Arts District in Los Angeles for their engagement session. Trust. It was filled with a lot of full belly laughter and smiles. We also got to sip and snack after the session too, which was deeeeelicious!
